No matter what any galactic historian or statistician claims, it is impossible to cover the entirety of the vast human Diaspora. Even the stories of a single planet or station could fill whole libraries - and there are far more than mere handfuls of planets. Whether a world lays within Union's Core, or is far enough on the Periphery to have never even heard of it, there is always something worth exploring.

Stellar Codex is a homebrew supplement for LANCER: The Mech RPG, designed to help add some flavour to regions outside the narrative spotlight, as well as adding additional PC and GM options. It includes:

  • Five Periphery factions - smaller players than Union or the corprostates - as well as associated flashpoints.
  • Several rollable tables to help make planets and their inhabitants feel more alive, whether major planetary features or individual trinkets.
  • Six new items of Pilot Gear, 18 new pieces of Exotic Gear, and eight new Core Bonuses.
  • 12 alternate frames: 4 for the corprostates, and 8 themed around the enigmatic Aun.
  • 4 Paragon NPCs, minibosses that are always at least Elite:
    • The Fractal, whose Echo lets it menace two places at once.
    • The Hero, a scrappy fighter that manipulates luck.
    • The Legion, a versatile squad of mechs that locks down the battlefield.
    • The Roulette, a wildcard whose weapons change from turn to turn.
  • 8 Templates, to further customize your NPCs:
    • Mariner, Constellar, Adherent, Legionnaire, and Ascendant - factional templates representing one of the Big 4 corprostates, plus the Aunic Ascendancy.
    • Paradox - impossible entities whose abilities touch on unconventional parts of the rules.
    • Immortal - relentless foes who can never truly die.
    • Stellar Wing - mechs upgraded with a flight mount that grants increased durability and mobility.
  • 30 Terrain Effects, to add more tactical decisions on the battlefield.

The player-side content will always be free (available for download under the Demo file), as both a PDF and an lcp file that can be used in the Comp/Con toolset.

The art displayed on this page, as well as more in the book, was made by Spiral_JoeZhjake, and Xeeble.

Stellar Codex is not an official Lancer product; it is a third party work, and is not affiliated with Massif Press. Stellar Codex is published via the Lancer Third Party License. Lancer is copyright Massif Press.

A note on first-party compatibility:

Stellar Codex is intended to be compatible with the Lancer Core book, as well as the following supplements: The Long Rim, No Room For A Wallflower: Act 1, and Field Guide: Karrakin Trade Baronies. (In addition, it is compatible with the third-party supplement Field Guide to Iridia.)

The mechanics in this document are incompatible with the supplements Dustgrave and A Siren's Song, A Mountain's Remorse - there are elements in each of those products that will not play well with some of the PC and NPC options presented.

First party products other than those listed may end up with interactions that are unintendedly powerful, so caution and GM judgement should be used.

You mention incompatibility with dustgrave and siren song, what’s the bits that cause issues?

Superheavy Mounting is the big one, but there's at least a few other things (especially on the NPC side) that can get a bit awkward and I didn't want to account for. In all honesty, in most cases, you'll probably be fine.

Hype!

player-facing LCP doesn't work right now on compcon ver. 2.3.21a

I'm not able to replicate any issues, even using a downloaded copy of the LCP instead of my working copy. What exactly are you experiencing? Is it just refusing to load?
