Space is unimaginably vast. Despite all of the advancement, all of the knowledge, that humanity has gained, it all still pales in comparison to the emptiness of the void. And so it’s easy to see things solely on a galactic scale, looking only at that which affects the fate of billions.

But every planet has a story, as do the people on those planets. It may not touch anyone anywhere else, but each is important nonetheless. Iridia is one such story. The tale of a planet that fell through the cracks, one where two separate rediscoveries led to enormous social upheavals.  First by an NHP that shattered their culture and declared herself a goddess, followed by a conflict with Union allowing them to regain their self-determination... while shattering the new culture that had put itself together since the first trauma.

Now its citizens are having to find their place in both their own world and the interstellar community, and it's not easy. Between unstable politics, continued paracausal warpings, the cultural encroachment of IPS-N, and a hostile force of nanites, there’s plenty of issues to deal with.

The problems of Iridia are delicate ones - and often not solvable directly with brute force - but many would appreciate aid navigating them nonetheless. Courageous Lancers willing to brave a world that often may not accept their presence can find many opportunities for their skills. And perhaps they can help people forge a better future for themselves.

The Field Guide to Iridia is a homebrew supplement for LANCER: The Mech RPG, that includes:

  • The setting of Iridia, including details on factions, notable characters, and plot hooks.
  • 3 GMS Core Bonuses, 4 Talents, 12 pieces of Pilot Gear, 18 Exotic Weapons and Systems, and a new Downtime Action.
  • Iridia Demonworks, a new Manufacturer with 15 Licenses (plus 7 alt-frames) and 8 Core Bonuses.
  • A new License and alt-frame for each of the Big 4 Manufacturers.
  • 21 NPC classes - including 4 Paragon NPCs that are always Elite or stronger, and the Ultra-tier Living Battlefield.
  • 10 Templates, to further customize your NPCs.
  • 20 Terrain Effects, to add more tactical decisions on the battlefield.
  • And more!

A summary of the NPC Classes and templates can be found here, which can also be easily shared with players to provide an overview if desired.

The player-side content will always be free (available for download under the Demo file), as both a PDF and an lcp file that can be used in the Comp/Con toolset.

The art displayed on this page (as well as more) was made by Spiral_Joe, Zhjake, Xeeble, and Lucía Varona. Other artists that have  contributed to this book are Cosmixian, Cozzymandias, Moiderah, and Indonesian Gentleman.

The Field Guide to Iridia is not an official Lancer product; it is a third party work, and is not affiliated with Massif Press. The Field Guide to Iridia is published via the Lancer Third Party License. Lancer is copyright Massif Press.

A note on first-party compatibility:

The Field Guide to Iridia is tested to be compatible with the Lancer Core book, The Long Rim supplement, and the non-Exotic parts of No Room For A Wallflower: Act 1.  It is incompatible with Dustgrave and A Siren's Song, A Mountain's Remorse. Some aspects of those supplements are known to cause balance issues with the content in Iridia

First party products other than those listed may end up with interactions that are unintendedly powerful, so caution and GM judgement should be used.

Why is this incompatible with dust grave and siren song or is listed in the file itself?

It's because there's a lot of stuff that wasn't accounted for (on account of not existing when things were made), and that don't quite mesh with my own design philosophies, so I didn't want to have to build around them.

The big one is the Superheavy Core bonus, but there's also all of the talents and Exotics, the NPC Templates, and the new NPCs (especially the Tempest - I know several of my Templates flat out don't work.).

That's not to say you can't use them in your own games, but I can almost guarantee that there's several broken interactions in there.

Okay understandable
